A historic moment
Tomorrow the first trained team from the UofN Kona Campus will be on its way to Papua New Guinea with Jesus Film recording equipment in order to translate and record the Jesus film in 8 different languages.
Why is this so important?
Well, the Jesus Film depicts the Gospel of Luke which ultimately is the Gospel message of Salvation. In Papua New Guinea there are many local languages that don’t have any portion of scripture available in their native language. Now we are able to bring Jesus to them in their mother tongue!
Why is this a historic moment?
The Jesus Film already exists in 1800 languages worldwide, but there are about 7000 languages worldwide in total, so 5800 languages don’t have the Jesus Film available for them. For some years several mission and Bible translation organizations have been coming together to seek the Lord about how to reach the unreached through strategic partnerships between them. Translating the Bible and translating the Jesus Film are ways of preaching the Gospel to the unreached people groups. The team that will go to Papua New Guinea is the first YWAM team that has been trained by the Jesus Film as a result of this partnership to End Bible Poverty Now.
The goal is to tackle 8 local languages in PNG as this team moves there on Monday. This will be a pilot case to train more teams at the UofN Kona Campus and it looks like the next outreach team will be going to Cameroon in 2016!
Jackson had the privilege to be the co-host of this partnership between YWAM and Jesus Film which happened during the “African Bible Safari” seminar he ran this summer. He also took the training and was asked to write a report for the YWAMtogether gathering that happened in Townsville Australia last week.
On the link above you will be able to see David Hamilton talk about this partnership and Jill Thornton will read Jackson’s report and see the pictures. It is about 3 minutes starting at 4:30 minutes into the session till 7:30 minutes.
We are blown away and encouraged by what the Lord is doing and are so excited we get to be a part of this. Through your support and prayers you have also played a key role in the people that will soon hear about Jesus in their own language for the first time. So Thank You! and Be Encouraged!
